Eco Food Recycling to use new Anaerobic Digestion plant for food waste recycling

Eco Food Recycling the Ringwood based commercial food waste collection and recycling company are to use the new £5.5 million AD plant at Piddlehinton when it opens in 2011.

The company that specialises in the collection of commercial and business food waste currently use the IVC (In vessel composting) facility of Eco Sustainable Solutions at Parley near Hurn Airport when disposing of the food waste from their collection round but will be switching to the new biogas plant in the near future.

The 2.5 acre site in West Dorset is being built by Eco Sustainable Solutions and will take in up to 25,000 tonnes of pig slurry and organic waste such as food waste. The process will create methane gas which in turn will be used to generate up to 1MW of electricity for supply to the national grid. The solid and liquid digestate,both end products of the process,will be used as fertiliser and soil improver on local farms.
